We build up knowledge about new sensors, techniques and data platforms through research in our own test fields and in collaboration with farmers. This information is brought to the sector via information moments, trial visits, articles in its own newsletters and in the trade press.
Slowly but surely, techniques related to precision agriculture are making their appearance in Flemish agriculture. Where steering aids appeared in the tractor a few years ago to 'drive straight', numerous applications are now possible at every stage of cultivation. The precision farming instruments provide detailed cultivation information, which responds to variations within and between fields in order to optimize cultivation. Treatments are limited to where and when it is needed. For growers, this can result in higher yields, better quality and savings in labor, fertilizers, plant protection products, fuel or personnel.
